New date for the Morocco Desert Challenge

After the two corona years, we can proudly announce that we are back! After two successful editions in Tunisia - a small one in November 2021 and a larger one in April 2022 - we have been able to add a new rally-raid to our event calendar. In difficult times, the Tunisia Desert Challenge was our rescue and moreover a worthy alternative to the Morocco Desert Challenge.

But after 2 editions in Tunisia, it's time to get back to the roots and to work on the revival of the MDC. Both my organization and most of the participants miss Morocco and are looking forward to racing again on the vast Moroccan tracks, cruising through Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes and the friendly population.

Part of the relaunch is to make the next MDC the best ever. A legendary start at “our” Plage Blanche, long Dakar-worthy specials with lots of variation, an impressive field of participants, top bivouacs (incl. catering) like you've never experienced them before and an atmosphere that no other rally-raid can match.
However, the perfect preparation of a large rally, with a relatively small team of people, is a very time-consuming operation. Over the past 2 rallies in Tunisia, we have noticed that 4-5 months is not enough to prepare a high-quality event down to the last detail. For the MDC we need 3 parallel race tracks and the road books should be checked 3 times because from 2023 we will only work with ERTF tablets (the digital road books).

And also, there is my “dream team” of 200 loyal crew members/volunteers. If the rally were to take place in October, it would be their third rally in 12 months. I can ask a lot of them, but not the impossible. “Replace them with others” I hear you say? I don't want to think about it!

Therefore, in the interest of the quality of our event, we have decided that the next rally will indeed be the Morocco Desert Challenge, but it will take place just after Ramadan 2023, i.e. from April 21 to 30. I’ll personally make sure it will be one to remember!

This time we set the limit at 1000 people, including mechanics. The breakdown by vehicle category will follow shortly. We traditionally open registrations on August 1st. So don’t hesitate too long because for the MDC2020 we were full in 1 week and the limit was 1200 people. Of course, participants in the postponed 2020 edition, will be given priority.

Thank you for your understanding and your trust. Hopefully we'll see each other at the world's most beautiful!

Don't limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.
