MDC collaboration with HoGent

Desert bivouacs of 5 hectares often have something magical, but planning and setting them up in the middle of nowhere requires a considerable amount of planning, preparation, and terrain knowledge. It is quite a puzzle to find a spot for 550 trucks, vans, cars, and race vehicles, preferably beautifully aligned. To streamline this process, we will be collaborating with the Hogeschool Gent in 2024. Two professors and eight students from the surveying (topography) specialization will strengthen the bivouac team and help optimize the placement of support teams and vehicles using the latest technologies.

Hogeschool Gent will develop a GeoICT system. Through topographic measurements during the reconnaissance in February, a digital map of each bivouac will be created, divided into assignable zones. Upon entering the camp, a place can easily be assigned to the support teams based on their personal preferences.

Don't limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.
